TAX PREPARATION SERVICES
Our seasoned team of Tax Preparer's work hard during the tax season to help individual's reduce tax liability. Our personal tax preparation services include tax return preparation and planning for individuals, partnerships, rental property owners, and small business returns.
But, Taxes do not stop when April 15th rolls around because taxes are an all year issue. We have a staff that is available year round for tax planning situations.
Did you sell a Rental Property? Let's do a tax plan since all that depreciation you took while renting the property now has to be recaptured and can create a surprise on your tax return without proper planning and potentially estimated payments.
Are you retiring soon? The transition from working to retirement creates some unique challenges. Your income can change from a single W-2 stream of income to multiple streams of income from Social Security, retirement savings, investments, an annuity, and possibly a pension. Each of these income streams can potentially have different tax treatments and/or benefits. When you retire we usually see two unique tax years as part of the transition into retirement. The first year of retirement usually has some wage income from the early part of the year, maybe a lump sum payout on your final paycheck as sick pay and vacation pay are paid out. The multiple streams of retirement income for only a portion of the year create a unique tax situation for your first year of retirement. Your second year of retirement shows the full year picture from all of your streams of income.
When you work with us, we do what we can to help you gain a perspective and understanding of how life events and taxation walk hand in hand throughout your life time.
Let's take a moment and talk about the commoditization of tax preparation. It can be easy to go and utilize an online service and perhaps save a hundred dollars. If you forget to include some income, the Federal and State governments will be happy to send you a letter to inform you that you did not report all of your income on your tax return. But have you given any thought to what would happen if you overlooked a subtraction, a deduction, or a tax credit that could have reduced your tax liability? Rarely will you receive a letter notifying you that you missed out on a potential tax benefit simply because the Powers That Be simply don't know if you qualify for that benefit. Has the tax law changed recently where you were previously disallowed from claiming a tax benefit, but this year you now qualify even though your income did not change? From the stand point of working through your particular situation to determine if you qualify, a tax preparer can easily become your best financial friend.
The best part of using a tax preparer is that we get to know about your specific situation and how things change over time. As your kids hit certain age milestones, we provide some helpful advice and things to be aware of in the next year or two. Has a rental property investment opportunity or a new self-employed business opportunity presented itself to you? Having a tax preparer who knows your situation already can provide helpful guidance far more quickly and accurately. While you may save a small amount of money on a do it yourself program, you may potentially be missing out on a larger amount of money by missing a potential subtraction, deduction, or tax credit. That is the true benefit of have a tax professional in your corner. Each of our tax preparers spend a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education every year to stay up to date on constantly changing tax laws. Are we perfect? Absolutely not. If you ever find anyone who tells you they are perfect, avoid them like the plague and run away because we all have faults that we have to deal with in life. But in this office, we can honestly say we will do our absolute best on each and every tax return for each and every tax client that complies with the tax code. And, well, in the phrase that Forrest Gump made famous, That's All I Got To Say About That!
